The year is 1729. You are Ada Bonnet, born a pirate, now shipwrecked on a drowsy island colony. This could be the start of an honest life, but it’s hard to stay out of trouble when adventure and unclaimed riches lure from beyond the horizon. It’s even harder when there’s a bounty on your head. Then again, what pirate doesn’t enjoy a little infamy? Just remember that some debts are not paid in money.

Explore an untamed open world – by ship, on foot or swinging from your grappling hook. Scattered across miles of open ocean lie more than 50 hand-crafted islands just waiting to be discovered. From colonial ports to rogue pirate colonies, lush jungles to (mostly) impenetrable forts, this archipelago is filled with things to do and people to meet. Some of them are even friendly.

Be a pirate on your own terms! Outsail your enemies, or roll out the guns and exchange broadsides. Board their ship and take what’s worth taking or send them to the bottom of the sea. Use your wits or your blade, sneak past your enemies or introduce them to your flintlock. The choice is always yours, provided you can stomach the consequences.
Grow more dangerous as you go: level up to unlock new skills or put down the money and upgrade your weapons or your ship. Few things in this world come free, but there are plenty of ways to earn a few coins. And if all else fails: there’s always plundering.

A single-player, third-person, story-driven, open-world action RPG set towards the end of the Golden Age of Piracy.
Hi! My name is Kai, I’m an indie developer from Germany. Right now this is a solo project, meaning I write the code and the story, create the art and record the sound effects.
The game is currently being developed for PC/Steam and Stream Deck. A console release is of course possible.
The game is in active development and it’s unfortunately too early to commit to a release window. If you don’t want to miss any future announcements, please join the mailing list or our Discord.
It’s unfortunately too early to say. If it will, I’ll announce it via the mailing list and Discord.
Troubled Seas is exclusively a single-player game.
No.
No.
Yes, absolutely.
As many as possible, but the exact set has not yet been confirmed. Localization will cover subtitles and user interface but not spoken dialogue which will be available exclusively in its original language (English).
The game will have a variety of quality settings in order to allow it to run smoothly on most PCs. For the highest quality settings, an upper mid-range PC will likely be required.
